Fall, Autumn, Football Season, whatever you want to call it, it’s the season many of us look forward to. Whether it’s to jump in a pile of leaves, bring out the sweaters that have been hiding for months, or ordering your first pumpkin spice latte of the season, fall has been deemed a favorite by many. Call me basic, but I am one of these people who believe that fall truly is the best time of the year. I could go on, and on, about why this is my favorite time, but I managed to narrow down to only 11 reasons why it’s the greatest.
- All the Colors
No doubt the leaves changing every year is arguably one of the most beautiful sights in nature. I know it’s cliche but, it is literally creation’s way of showing us how beautiful change is.

2. Harvest
There’s just something special about waking up to the sight of combines and cotton pickers moving through the fields, watching the land go from abounding to barren. What’s even more special, is knowing there are people hard at work to make sure that they produce the best crops for our country and it’s ever-growing population.
3. Holidays
Of course, another wonderful part of fall is the holidays. When Halloween comes around we all love picking out costumes, going through haunted houses, and eating entirely too much candy (no matter how old you are). When that’s over we spend the entire next month preparing to get all dressed up simply to hang out with our families in the kitchen, watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and eat entirely too much of…well…everything else. (Do yourself a favor this year, don’t wear the tight pants and think they’ll keep you from eating as much. Accept the truth about what is going to happen and wear a cute flowy dress instead.)
4. Finally Getting to Use the Fireplace
One of my personal favorite parts of the season is when it finally is cool enough to get some wood and build a nice warm fire in the fireplace. I mean really, what beats snuggling in a blanket, getting a cup of hot cider, and sitting by the fire to read a book or watch a movie? That’s right, NOTHING! Nothing beats that.

5. FOOD!
I think that every human ever can agree that the food this time of years is AMAZING. Candy corn, turkey, soup, mashed potatoes, stuffing, pie, etc! And the beautiful thing about the food during this time is that there is so much of it that you’re almost guaranteed to find something that you like!
6. Football Season
How could I possibly forget football! The all-American sport that brings so many together (and tears them apart, but let’s be positive here). Whether watching professional, college, high school, or even little league, there’s just something about the sound of the band, the sight of the cheerleader’s pom-poms glistening, and the announcer shouting “TOUCHDOWN” for your favorite team.
7. Getting to Pick Pumpkins
Who doesn’t love pumpkin patches? I mean going to find your very own large, perfectly shaped, bright orange, beautiful pumpkin and imagining (or looking up on Pinterest) all of the amazing carving or painting ideas. Not only that, but all of the adorable photo opportunities are just too much to handle. Instagram please prepare yourself for cuteness overload.
8. Pumpkins in General
But is all the joy from pumpkins really just in the pumpkin patch? NO WAY! I mean carved or not pumpkins make the cutest fall decorations. Not only are they adorable to look at but all the pumpkin flavors are very important. Pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, pumpkin spice latte… I am just so happy to live in a world where I can get pretty much anything pumpkin flavored.
9. Pulling Out the Scarves and Sweaters
Don’t lie. You know that you cannot wait to wear clothes that are both adorable and so, so comfy! Finally, the season has come that we can wear basically pajamas, throw on a pair of boots and the outfit is suddenly dressy. Thank you, people, in the fashion industry for designing really cute leggings, sweaters, and scarves that are acceptable to wear in public AND I can sleep in them. Seriously thank you!

10. Halloween Movies
Hocus Pocus, The Addams Family, Halloweentown, The Goonies, etc. etc. are all way too good movies to even think about missing. I will admit, I am a sucker for any sort of holiday-themed movie. Yes, I understand that they are not realistic in any way, shape, or form. Even so, there is no way on earth you’ll catch me without a salt container on the night of Halloween just in case the Sanderson sisters decide to show up.
11. National FFA Convention
For all of my fellow FFA members out there, you understand the excitement. Attending the convention with tens of thousands of other people with similar interests and passions as you. There’s nothing like attending sessions seeing the entire hall filled with blue jackets, and hearing speeches inspiring you to go home and take the next step. For many of us, if we weren’t traveling to Indianapolis fall just wouldn’t be fall.

You really hit the nail on the head. I love fall for the same reasons. However, I like to include the World Series in that mix.
